I have two of these. The first is a 5/8″ drive 625 with 500 foot pounds of torque and the other is a 1/2″ drive 500 with 250 foot pounds. I had to get an adapter to take the 625 down to 1/2″ drive, as 5/8″ drive sockets do not exist in the UK.

They are amazing tools, and can free up frozen rusted nuts and bolts with great ease, and they do not require an air-line or any power supply other than your arm. They were originally designed for the aircraft industry in the 1930s and are used by the US military for use in areas without shop facilities.

They are still being sold by PowerHawk, but they are very expensive. They come up for sale occasionally on the Bay etc, and most people don’t know what they are so they go for far far less than a new one. My 500 cost about $100 and my 625 about $150.

They are an example of top class American engineering and ingenuity. Get one!
